FNB Makes $1,100 Donation to Soup for the Soul’s Lunch & Literacy Program

FNB Donates $1,100 to Soup for the Soul Lunch and Literacy ProgramFNB Bank proudly donated $1,100 to Soup for the Soul’s Summer Lunch & Literacy Program. The Lunch & Literacy Program strives to provide summer meals to children who qualify for free or reduced lunch during the school year. The donation was a collective effort between individual employee donations and FNB.

“FNB and our employees are honored to donate to such a worthy cause as the Lunch and Literacy Program,” stated Amy Futrell, Murray-Calloway County Market President. “2020 has been a hard year, as we are living in unprecedented times, and I am thankful to be a part of an organization and team that wants to help our community any way that we can.”

For the past three summers, volunteers have packed and delivered bags of shelf-stable, healthy foods twice per week. An age-appropriate book is also included in one of the bi-weekly deliveries. Because of COVID-19, the same amount of food will be delivered this summer once per week, along with the book. Foods that are distributed do not require refrigeration and are easy to open and prepare. The program expects to feed 250 children this year at a rate of $100 per child.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Soup for the Soul is unable to hold their normal food drives and is relying on the help of the community to make this program successful. To make an online donation to the Summer Lunch & Literacy Program, visit: soup4thesoul.org. Checks can also be mailed to Soup for the Soul at PO Box 1001, Murray, KY 42071.

FNB Makes $4,000 Donation to Mayfield-Graves CASA and Feeding America

FNB Donates $200 to the Mayfield-Graves County CASA ProgramFNB Donates $200 to the Mayfield-Graves County Feeding America ProgramJanuary 31, 2019 (Mayfield, KY) FNB proudly donated $4,000 to two worthy community agencies as a result of FNB’s 2018 philanthropic fundraising efforts in Graves County.  Both the Mayfield-Graves County Child Advocacy (CASA) Program and the Feeding America Backpack Program for Mayfield and Graves County Schools received $2,000 donations to assist with their daily missions of serving the community.

“Giving back to our local community is something we do every day at FNB,” stated Brooke Wiles, FNB Marketing Director.  “We coordinate numerous fundraisers throughout the year to support our selected charities.  This year we split our fundraising dollars in effort to assist two worthy programs that make a positive impact in the lives of children in our community.”

Throughout 2018, FNB employees coordinated and participated in numerous fundraising events benefiting the Mayfield-Graves CASA and Feeding America Backpack Programs.  Various fundraising efforts included a Mayfield Creek Market box lunch fundraiser, a cookout, GCHS student car wash and concession sales during the Graves County and Mayfield Battle of the Birds football game.  Employees also participated in various jean days throughout the year to benefit the worthy causes.

Graves County’s CASA Program ensures that every child in Graves County has the opportunity to grow up in a safe environment by providing child abuse prevention programs and advocates for abused and neglected children in the court system.  Graves County CASA operated with 19 volunteer advocates and advocated for a total of 97 children in the 2018 calendar year.

The Purchase Area Development District (PADD) serves as the region’s food bank supporting a network of organizations that distribute food and non-food products to underprivileged individuals and families. One of the most successful efforts in the fight against hunger is the PADD’s partnership with Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland linking their Backpack Program to school districts in our region. It provides children with nutritious, easy-to-prepare foods to eat on weekends when school food isn’t available. Teachers and family resource coordinators identify children in need, and a bag of easy-to- prepare food items is placed discreetly in the child’s backpack at the end of each week. Currently, the Feeding America Backpack program serves 157 children in 10 schools within Mayfield and Graves County.

To learn more about Graves County’s CASA Program, please contact Stephanie Floyd, Executive Director at (270) 251-2060 or by e-mail at childadv1@calldialog.net.  To learn more about the Feeding America Backpack Program, please contact the PADD Office at 270-251-6187.
