Stick to Your Holiday Spending Plan this Black Friday & Cyber Monday

The biggest shopping days of the year are here – but don’t let the deals derail your holiday budget! Black Friday and Cyber Monday are full of tempting sales, but overspending now can lead to holiday debt that lasts long after the decorations come down.

Challenge Yourself: Shop Intentionally

This year, make a commitment to stick to your holiday spending plan. Treat your budget like a gift to yourself – protect it, follow it, and shop with purpose.

Tips for Sticking with the Plan

  1. Know Your Spending Limit Before You Browse: Review your Holiday Spending and Savings Plan and decide exactly how much you can spend on gifts, meals, and other holiday expenses.
  2. Make a List and Check It Twice: Identify the people you’re buying for and the items you actually need. Avoid impulse buys, even if the deal seems too good to pass up.
  3. Prioritize Deals that Fit Your Plan: Only purchase items you had already planned for. If a deal is tempting but outside your budget, skip it.
  4. Use Cash or Debit If Possible: Paying with cash or debit helps you stay grounded in what you actually have to spend and prevents credit card balances from piling up. Be cautious of “Buy Now, Pay Later” They can make purchases feel manageable in the moment, but often lead to overspending or surprise payments down the road. Keeping your spending tangible helps you stay in control and focused on your financial goals.
  5. Compare Prices and Timing: Sometimes the early bird deal isn’t the best deal. Take a moment to compare prices online or wait for a sale on something you truly planned to buy.
  6. Think Experiences or Homemade Gifts: If funds are tight, consider gifting experiences, DIY crafts, or personal coupons. They can be more meaningful than anything you find on sale.

Make It a Holiday Savings Challenge

Challenge yourself to shop intentionally and stick to your plan during this holiday season. Track every purchase, celebrate sticking to your budget, and avoid post-holiday stress.

Take the America Saves Pledge to stay committed to your savings goals!

FNB Bank is proud to announce that they have donated over $22,000 back to Mayfield, Graves County, Trigg County, and Marshall County Schools through their Spirit Debit Card Program. These donations to the school systems are a result of FNB’s 3rd quarter 2025 Spirit Debit Card Program.

“We are proud to offer our exclusive FNB Spirit Debit Card Program to our local schools,” stated Brooke Wiles, FNB Marketing Director.  “Our customers have pride in knowing that they are making a difference in the lives of our youth by simply swiping their Spirit Debit Cards at the checkout.  The donated funds allow the school systems the opportunity to do more for their students and staff, which is an invaluable asset to our community.”

The FNB Spirit Debit Card Program allows FNB and their customers the opportunity to give back to their local schools when they use their FNB debit card.  FNB currently offers Spirit Debit Cards for Mayfield, Graves County, Trigg County, and Marshall County Schools.  The Spirit Card works like a traditional debit card and for each signature-based transaction (not using your PIN), FNB donates $0.10 to the corresponding school.  The tracking process is hassle free for the card holder, as FNB does all the tracking and submits the check to each school on a quarterly basis.  The donated funds are utilized at the school’s discretion.
